Wall cracks can be of different types. Hairline cracks are mainly seen in freshly poured concrete and are due to shrinkage. These cracks are very thin (about 0.08 mm) and can be very fine. Hairline cracks can be difficult to repair.
Below are some steps for repairing hairline cracks in a basement wall:
- Apply a primer to ensure the best adhesion between the existing surface and the patch material.
- Using a spatula or trowel, apply the vinyl patch several times according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Mix only the required amount of paste for each coat of paint. Press hard to press the first coat of paint into the crack and allow to dry coats.
- You can also fill hairline cracks with cement if it is wide enough to sand.
