Warning signs

Here's what to look for.

Catch any of these early and you'll save thousands. Ignore them and the problem compounds, fast.

Peeling paint or damaged drywall caused by moisture buildup
Increased humidity or condensation on windows and pipes
Warping or rotting wood in your basement structure
Efflorescence, a white, chalky substance left by evaporated water
Pooled water or dampness after rainstorms
Cracks in the foundation or basement walls
Persistent musty odors indicating mold or mildew growth
Visible water stains or damp spots on walls or floors
Root causes

Why this is happening.

Understanding the cause is half the repair. Symptoms come back when root causes aren't addressed.

01

Hydrostatic Pressure

Groundwater pressure pushes water through any crack or porous concrete.

02

Poor Drainage

Inadequate exterior drainage sends water toward the foundation instead of away.

03

Failed Waterproofing

Original membrane has degraded or was never installed properly.

04

Foundation Cracks

Cracks provide a direct path for water to enter the basement.

Our methods

How we fix it, right.

We match the method to the damage, not the other way around. No one-size-fits-all.

Method 01

Interior & Exterior Drainage Systems

French drains and perimeter drains channel water away from your foundation.

Method 02

Sump Pump Installation

High-performance pumps effectively remove water that collects in your basement.

Method 03

Waterproof Coatings & Membranes

Specialized coatings create a protective barrier on walls and floors.

Method 04

Foundation Crack Sealing

Repairing and sealing cracks to stop water from seeping in at the source.

Method 05

Crawl Space Encapsulation

Prevents moisture buildup and improves air quality in homes with crawl spaces.

Materials we install

Manufacturer-grade. Brand-named.

We don't use hardware-store filler. Every product below is sourced from manufacturers that don't sell to DIYers, and we're trained directly with most of them.

Interior drain tile system

EZ Breathe / industry-standard French drain

Perforated drain pipe in a clean stone bed around the perimeter, daylighted to a sump pit. Captures water at the wall-floor cove joint where most basement leaks enter.

Sump pump system

Industrial-grade cast-iron primary + battery backup

Sized to the water volume your site actually generates (not a one-size-fits-all box). Battery backup keeps the basement dry through power outages — exactly when storms hit.

EZ Breathe ventilation system

EZ Breathe (certified installers since 2026)

Patented basement and crawl-space ventilation that actively removes moisture, allergens, and gases. Pairs with the drainage system to keep humidity in spec long-term.

Exterior rubberized asphalt membrane

When excavation is the right answer, we apply a continuous black waterproofing membrane across the exposed foundation face. This is what should have been there from new construction.

Polyurethane crack injection

Sika / Emecole

For active leaking cracks discovered during the waterproofing work. Reacts with moisture, expands to full wall depth, flexes seasonally.

What it costs

Real pricing for waterproofing in CT & NY.

Typical job anchor
~$8,500

Interior perimeter drain tile + sump pump + sealed wall section. The most common waterproofing system we install in CT and NY basements with chronic moisture.

Full residential range
$3,000$25,000+
Real ranges from jobs we've quoted in the last 24 months — not made-up "starts at" numbers.
What drives your price

Three factors do the heavy lifting.

Factor 1

Interior vs. exterior approach

Interior drain tile + sump runs $4,000–$12,000 depending on perimeter length. Exterior excavation + membrane runs $8,000–$25,000+ but addresses the source. We recommend the right one for your specific water path, not the higher-ticket one by default.

Factor 2

Active vs. preventive

Already-flooding basements need the full system. Damp/efflorescing basements may only need a partial system or targeted crack injection. Honest scoping = honest price.

Factor 3

Drainage corrections outside

If downspouts, grading, or yard drainage are dumping water at the foundation, the interior system has to fight more water. We correct exterior drainage as part of the scope when it's clearly the upstream cause.

Why paint-on sealers fail

Interior drainage system vs. surface coating only

Side-by-side, what changes when the repair is done right.

Dimension
We Fix Cracks interior drainage system
Surface waterproof paint / DryLok
Where the water actually goes
Captured at the cove joint, channeled to a sump, pumped out to daylight
Blocked at the wall surface — finds the next path of least resistance
Long-term performance
Designed for decades of cycling. Sump pump replaceable; drain pipe permanent.
Typically peels or blisters within 1–3 winters as hydrostatic pressure pushes through
Mold and humidity control
Reduces basement humidity to spec; pairs with EZ Breathe ventilation
Coating only. Mold often returns behind the paint
Power outage protection
Battery backup keeps system pumping
Not applicable — passive coating fails under saturation regardless
Warranty
Manufacturer warranty on the sump + workmanship warranty in writing
Often verbal or none

Our rule

We don't patch. We fix permanently.

Every structural repair restores the section with a stronger, more sustainable material than what originally failed. If a crack is identified as structural, the only honest fix is to rebuild that section with a superior material, since the original already failed once. That's not an upsell, it's the rule that keeps a lifetime warranty real.

Common questions

Waterproofing, answered.

The questions homeowners actually ask us when waterproofing comes up at the inspection.

How much does basement waterproofing cost in CT and NY?

Most homeowners spend $7,500–$10,000 for a complete interior drainage system (perimeter drain tile + sump pump + battery backup + sealed wall section). Full residential range: $3,000 (partial system on a small problem area) to $25,000+ (full exterior excavation with new membrane). The honest scoping comes from the on-site inspection — we don't quote over the phone.

Interior drainage vs. exterior excavation — which do I need?

Interior drainage handles 80% of residential basement leaks at a fraction of the cost. Exterior excavation is the right answer when (a) the foundation has multiple visible cracks on one outside wall, (b) the original waterproofing has fully failed and groundwater is hitting the wall constantly, or (c) you've already tried interior fixes that didn't last. Greenwich exterior case study on /recent-projects/ shows a real example.

Will the work damage my finished basement?

We use full containment sheeting, dust suppression, and protect finishes during the cut and trench. Installing interior drain tile does require breaking out a 12-inch strip of concrete floor at the wall-floor joint and re-pouring it after the pipe is in. Anything finished within that strip (drywall, baseboard) needs to come off. We document everything with before/during/after photos.

How long does installation take?

Most full interior drainage systems are 2–4 days on-site. Smaller targeted jobs (one wall section + sump) can finish in 1–2 days. Exterior excavation jobs run longer (3–7 days) depending on length of the affected wall and access for excavation.

Do you install sump pumps separately, or only as part of a system?

Both. If your existing drainage tile is fine but the sump pump is failing or undersized, we replace just the pump and add a battery backup. Most calls end up needing the full system, but we'll honestly scope yours and quote what's actually needed.

What about humidity and mold after the system is installed?

We pair every interior drainage system with proper ventilation — typically the EZ Breathe system (certified installers since 2026) — so the basement stays in spec on humidity. A drained basement that still hits 70% relative humidity will grow mold; we size both pieces together.

Does waterproofing qualify for the lifetime transferable warranty?

Waterproofing carries its own warranty — workmanship from us plus manufacturer coverage on the sump pump and drainage components, typically 5+ years documented in writing. Lifetime transferable coverage is reserved for structural repairs paired with full-wall carbon fiber. The two-tier breakdown is on the lifetime warranty page.

Can you tie waterproofing into a foundation crack repair?

Yes — and that's the most durable combination when both are needed. We seal active cracks with polyurethane injection at full wall depth, install drainage to capture any future water at the cove joint, and (when structural) reinforce with carbon fiber. One crew, one schedule, one warranty package.
